New York at Christmastime

Highlights of our Visit to the Big Apple

I’ve lived in Michigan since the 1970s but I grew up in the suburbs of New York City. It’s been a number of years since I’ve been back to visit in December, but we took a three day trip last week to catch the holiday spectacles.

One way to describe the visit is to show you a few of our memorable photos.

The commuter train station in Tarrytown, NY about 30 miles north of NYC
The one hour train trip takes us to the iconic Grand Central Station in the heart of NYC
First stop is Bryant Park where vendors have set up dozens of holiday gift shops.
A decorated Christmas tree in Bryant Park
A short walk takes us to the famed Rockefeller Center and its well-known outdoor skating rink
The Louis Vuiton storefront stops the shoppers.
The captivating staircase at the Apple store
One of the most colorful storefronts is the one by Dior on Fifth Ave
A short walk took us to the Time Warner Bldg and these gingerbread houses
A subway ride took us to Chinatown. Windows such as this one display savory roasts.
A wooden soldier decking Little Italy
The train ride back to Tarrytown crosses the Harlem River to the Bronx
Here’s the dock in New Jersey. We took the ferry from Jersey City to the Statue of Liberty
Here we are posing with the Statue
A final photo to remind us how much we enjoyed visiting the New York area during the holidays.

During our short visit we stopped at a bunch more places – too many for this short article. Hope you enjoyed seeing some of the Christmas holiday in NYC.
