Highlights of our Visit to the Big Apple

I’ve lived in Michigan since the 1970s but I grew up in the suburbs of New York City. It’s been a number of years since I’ve been back to visit in December, but we took a three day trip last week to catch the holiday spectacles.

One way to describe the visit is to show you a few of our memorable photos.

First stop is Bryant Park where vendors have set up dozens of holiday gift shops.

During our short visit we stopped at a bunch more places – too many for this short article. Hope you enjoyed seeing some of the Christmas holiday in NYC.

Vacation Selfies

Cellphone Photos

In past years we hardly had any photographs of ourselves while on vacation.

This has all changed with the advent of the cellphones with their builtin high quality cameras.

We took two mini-vacations this past September and October. Fortunately my arm was long enough to capture these pictures.

Back from the Parks

September Park Photos

We’re back from our September cross country vacation. This article is delayed a bit since we took a second trip out west in October. Now that I’ve had some time to organize, I’ll share a few pictures from September – concentrating on wildlife and some scenics.

One of our first visits was to Mono Lake in California.
These craggy structure is called a tufa. They are unique to the Mono Lake ecosystem.

A few days later and 1100 miles north we arrive at Glacier National Park. That’s the McDonald Creek in the valley below.

We drove south to Mammoth Hot Springs in the north part of Yellowstone.

Using a long lens I captured these mountain goats a few hundred yards away in the Barronette area of Yellowstone.
The Badlands was the final park that we stopped at this trip out west.
The range of the bison includes The Badlands in South Dakota.
