We\u2019d like to share some tips for taking better people pictures.<\/p>\n<table border=\"1\" cellspacing=\"5\" cellpadding=\"5\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td colspan=\"2\" valign=\"top\"><strong>The &#8220;Eyes&#8221; Have It<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When taking pictures of people, most viewers will tell you that it&#8217;s the eyes that catch and hold their attention. Here&#8217;s a few examples of how the eyes make a difference.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"50%\">\n<center><a href=\".\/images\/\/portraits\/IMG_1309.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[2153]\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\".\/images\/portraits\/IMG_1309s.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\"><\/a><\/center><br \/>\nHere we have filled the viewfinder with the infant&#8217;s face. However her eyes are focused downward &#8211; pointing away from the photo.<\/td>\n<td width=\"50%\">\n<center><a href=\".\/images\/portraits\/IMG_1170.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[2153]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\".\/images\/portraits\/IMG_1170s.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"225\"><\/a><\/center><br \/>\nHere the young girl is looking directly at the photographer. While she sports a serious visage, her eyes draw me into the photo.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"50%\">\n<center><a href=\".\/images\/\/portraits\/IMG_1205.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[2153]\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\".\/images\/\/portraits\/IMG_1205s.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\"><\/a><\/center><br \/>\nThis young lady is also looking directly at the photographer. Her  large eyes become the center of attention and help &#8220;make the photo work&#8221;.<\/td>\n<td width=\"50%\">\n<center><a href=\".\/images\/portraits\/IMG_1357.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[2153]\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\".\/images\/portraits\/IMG_1357s.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\"><\/a><\/center><br \/>\nHere we&#8217;ve decided to move in and eliminate the forehead and the chin. The result is a photo that totally emphasizes the child&#8217;s bright, compelling eyes.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I think you&#8217;ll be rewarded if you are patient and wait for the subject&#8217;s eyes to meet the lens.<\/p>\n<p>A complimentary tip &#8211; long ago my mentor taught me that before pressing the shutter button, I should make sure that the lens was carefully focused on the eyes.
